i was thinking about the playing surface thing and why wouldn't hard(ish) packed dirt/clay work. like a baseball/softball field. you could clear and drag the surface with a 4 wheeler or something to work the paint in, and all you need is cleats for good traction. and pants are safe. put a few place to hook up a hose to spray it down every so often and your good to go.
Mud. It would mostly become mud.

no way. do you know how much it would take to make that much area into mud. you would probably have some spots around bunkers but the field as a whole would be just fine. baseball fields are hosed down all the time, then raked. if you raked everyday when the field was open, then raked between every few matches, it would be no problem. a lawn mower with a drag could do all the big areas and 3 guys with rakes could cover the edges. regular players would probably grab a rake and join in too. im stickin to my guns here. i think the clay/hard packed dirt mix would be best. all that other crap would cost more and be harder to maintain.

X3 for the title. IP Man was the best martial arts movie I've ever seen.

I think the final fight between Obi Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul also deserves an honorable mention. Bar the end of course.

Other good ones:
Kevin Costner vs Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Liam Neeson vs Tim Roth in Rob Roy

And all of the Bourne movies.

COMPLETELY agree on Ip man. Great, great, great movie. Donnie Yen at his best. Ip man 2 was also stellar, though unable to top the first. That rice scene....man the first time I saw it...I do not have the words. The context of the story leading up to that fight really makes it special.

i agree that without the context of the movie that scene is just him maliciously beating the crap out of people. much more powerful in context. that being said i think that some of the scenes of his "sparring" with friends, and pulling punches, are much more fun to watch. especially beating a sword with a feather duster -->

as i am a huge fan of kung fu movies i have a few to add to this thread. an amazing scene from The Protector with Tony Jaa. its a little different from the dvd but pretty close. Muay Thai vs Brazilian Capoeira (dance fighting), a sword fighter, then Big-A-Dude. gets crazy

<HTML><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MqGg8sNaps" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></HTML>

Jaa is also awesome in the Ong Bak movies.

the other must see kung fu actor is of course Jet Li in Unleashed, and in Fearless. samples of both:

<HTML><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_q1pAA-4lI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></HTML> long but cool

<HTML><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHgXcIfCyR0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></HTML>

and a movie i didnt know existed but Jackie Chan Vs. Jet Li

I'd play with you, if you can acquire an HD version, I don't think my version is compatible with the SD version.

hey it's on sale too
