PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
« on: August 19, 2017, 11:01:58 PM »
Gentlemen, the game many of us have been playing these past couple months is PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, or PUBG (Pub-Gee) for short. It keeps you on your toes, requires good teamwork and communication, and real world techniques are applicable. This video will give you a run down of the basics. If you're on PC, and want to try something new, come join us in Teamspeak.

Briefly, you can play a Solo game, or with a buddy in Duo mode, or Group with 3 other buddies that makes a 4 man team. You enter a 100 man server. All 100 people start off on an airplane that is "going down," forcing all 100 players to jump onto a large island. You can jump and parachute wherever you like. Once on the ground, you immediately begin searching for gear, since you drop with nothing. This means weapons and ammo are priority. The goal of the game...be the final person or team alive. You do this by taking out enemy players/squads, being sneaky sneaky and letting others widdle themselves down, leaving you with only a few guys left before you make your stand, or a mixture of both. DROP, GEAR UP, SURVIVE. I really enjoy 4 man squads. Zulu and I have even been busting out some old tournie codes in the heat of things. The firefights are a lot of fun, and the stakes are high. If you die, you're done. Your team carries on for you. You can spectate and watch from the sidelines while the rest of your boys try to take care of business. In addition to this, the map is shrinking every couple of minutes. Think Hunger Games when they unleashed those deadly gases which forced fighters closer and closer together on the map. If you don't avoid the gases you will die. Thus, even though you might start out far away from enemies, as the game progresses, it keeps pushing you closer and closer together. Check it out. A current list of guys/friends who have played:

Grim, Zulu, Hoot, Dark, Phoenix, Windmill, Thundercurls, Shockman, Isaiah Jones, Elijah Jones, Micah Jones, JJ Graves, Heath Hansen, BadSnoopy, etc.

I'm not a big computer game guy but I could get in on something like this if it's mac compatible and plenty of people play it!

There is a pretty steady crew playing it couple times a week. I just did a quick search and see that guys do play it on Mac. Their Mac has to have some beef to it, as the game is graphics/render heavy.

I'll look into it when I get home! Love playing games with friends who try

We usually finish in the top 5 or 10 unless we're just goofing off. We've won some as well.

Hoot and I get a win that was improbable and that we both thought we had no chance for the first half.  We dug ourselves out of a huge hole.  Ready by 3 pm

Nice win!

Heh. I liked the music you started with the bike wreck.

We sound like zombies. Getting a win @ 2am will do that I suppose.

Got to play some 8 man squad action last night. It was fun. Definitely takes some getting used to. You drop a squad of 4 and have to remind yourself they still have more buddies coming. Also need to cleanup chatter in TS. Lot of comms open with 8 guys in there.

Our squad was: Theo, Heath, myself, Dark, Zulu, Windmill, Isaiah Jones, and Grim.
